Book Barrow by Nathnolu was stitched on Zweigart 18 ct Rustico, and if there was ever a fabric made for a snug little woodland burrow, this is it. The rustic texture gives the whole piece that “I’ve lived here for years and yes, I absolutely have a secret bookshelf” kind of charm.
Can we take a moment for this little badger, though?
Tiny chair. Tiny books. Tiny burrow. Living his best introverted life without a single email, notification or unexpected visitor. Honestly… goals.
I like to imagine he’s halfway through a murder mystery, blissfully unaware that I’m the one usually stitching the monsters.
The colours were an absolute dream to work with. Every stitch made the burrow feel warmer, cosier and even more inviting. It became one of those projects where “I’ll stop after this section” somehow translated into “Why is it suddenly midnight?”
Classic.
And after many evenings of happily stabbing fabric… It’s finished!
One less project in the WIP pile. Don’t worry though, the pile has already filed a request for a replacement. It likes to maintain a healthy population.
This design is proof that not everything I stitch needs glowing eyes, suspicious ravens or an unsettling amount of pumpkins. Sometimes all it takes is a bookish badger in his perfectly cosy little hideaway to completely win me over.
Although… if he ever finds an ancient, definitely-not-cursed book hidden on one of those shelves, I wouldn’t complain.
Every good library has one book you’re probably better off leaving closed.
Until then, I’ll let him enjoy the peace and quiet while I wander off in search of my next stitching adventure. Odds are it’ll be just a tiny bit less wholesome.
Balance must be restored, after all.
