Cross stitched Alien from the movies

Five Colours, One Xeno

Sometimes you just need a project that is equal parts satisfying and slightly unhinged, and this one delivered perfectly. I stitched this iconic space creature using a pattern from NightSkyStudioDee (Etsy) and honestly, I loved every tiny, slightly ominous stitch.

I worked this piece on 16ct DMC fabric, which gave me just enough detail to make the design pop without turning it into an eye-straining marathon. The best part? The whole piece uses only 5 DMC thread colours. Five. That’s basically a capsule wardrobe, but for horror icons. It kept the stitching super focused and let the shading do all the storytelling.

The limited palette really surprised me. You still get depth, shine and that unmistakable biomechanical vibe without juggling twenty bobbins and losing your will to live halfway through. Love that for us.

The pattern itself was clear, easy to follow and very binge-stitch friendly. You know those projects where you say “just one more row” and suddenly it’s bedtime? Yes. That.

And because one space horror is never enough… the chestburster will be coming to aida soon. Stay tuned. I regret nothing. Probably.

If you’re into movie stitching, sci-fi, or just want something a little different from florals and samplers, this one is such a fun ride.

Now excuse me while I go admire it from a safe distance like a responsible space crew member.
